Who wears iridescent purple shoes (with lightning bolts) and leopard print boots on their wedding day? The most colorful and fabulous Grooms on the planet of course! And how exactly does that work with an overall Art Nouveau theme? It just does!

Having a strong design point of view on your wedding day really makes a profound statement! I usually can only fit in a few purely custom design suites each year, so when Los Angeles - based Wedding Planner, Holly Gray called, I came running! The ceremony took place at the historic Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. The Ebell has a long history of showcasing performing artists from around the globe for 100 years. It's truly a stunning venue to marry your partner and honor your new life together.

For their stationery, Ben and Rob knew they wanted shades of purple and pink, fruity elements and an Art Nouveau vibe. The fruit serves as a nod to the Dutch Masters fine art they love, and the Art Nouveau era is one of their favorite time periods. Their wedding stationery culminated in shades of lavender, purple and blush. The ruby pomegranates were adorned with gold metallic foil details which really popped! The sable borders kept the design grounded.

When working on your wedding palette, it is very important to utilize a hierarchy of color. Try using this guideline when setting your wedding color palette. Choose:

--one main color (sometimes two can be ok)

--one or two secondary colors

--one neutral

--one metal

Many couples send me their wedding palettes with three or four powerful colors, all with the same value , which means having the same intensity. The result will be a power struggle for color domination and can end up looking very messy and your guest's won't know where to focus.

One of my favorite features of the wedding is the photo booth installation that Victoria and Christopher Smith painted and constructed. Their company, the Paper Moon Shoppe builds the most extravagant and lovely backdrops around! They took the details of my invitation suite and hand painted the details evoking a colorful era from long ago. It's a draw dropper!

A big thank you goes to Wedding Planner, Holly Gray for putting this lovely affair together. She handpicks vendors that work together cohesively and makes sure they all create a technicolor and visually stunning event... and on time and on budget!

The special touch of a shimmery metallic adds an elegant spark to your wedding stationery! If you think adding glittering metallic accents to your wedding budget, then think again! Gilded Swan Paperie has a few different options for adding metallic foil printing to your stationery for every budget.

What is metallic foil printing? It's a process where we use rolls of a metallic paper that are hot stamped onto your invitations, guest books and vow books. The heat causes the foil to adhere to the surface, revealing shimmery accents. We can print gold, rose gold, silver and copper. By far the most popular is the gold foil wedding invitations

Foil stamping is very unique and the process is different based on which paper you choose. For invitations, foil stamping on my museum board and standard matte papers is very detailed and we have the ability to get quite intricate. Complicated filigree or tiny floral petal accents look lovely with this process. This can cost a bit more of course. We also have a new stamping method that is a fraction of the price that is only available on our super smooth postcard paper. This paper is very stiff, has a bit of a sheen and is perfect for self-mailable postcard save the dates and is gaining popularity with full wedding suites. The foil process is very different than the traditional method and it's a bit more rustic. It does not work for super fine details as it is not as refined as the foil methods above. It has a raised feel and is super metallic! For a fraction of the price, this might work for you!

Check out the gallery below to see how you can glam up your wedding day with metallic foil on your save the dates, wedding invitations, guest books and vow books. You can also view my paper and printing videos right here:

Modern meets modern! Really, it just does. Erin and Aaron's wedding at the LINE in Austin combined 1920's modernism with the modern design of 1960's. Sounds tough to pull off? Not really! What these two movements have in common are clean lines, basic shapes and that lovely and sublime simplicity. The LINE was once home to a jazz club that broadcast music nightly and sits in historic downtown Austin.

The dramatic and moody photos were shot by the ever-so-talented Photographer, Nikk Nguyen. Nikk was able to capture the austere urban setting next to the stunning views of Lady Bird Lake. The wedding palette was neutral in tone with lots of ivory, soft peach and a little obsidian. Erin and Aaron chose the My Man Godfrey suite from my shop which features 1920s Art Deco inspired typefaces and a vintage illustration of a couple embracing and celebrating with champagne.
